Our Stellar Filter Kit lets you create starburst effects from bright and close light sources so they appear as 4-point, 6-point or 8-point stars. For best results, use with a strong, close and partially obscured light source like the sun peeking through the tree canopy.

Our Star Filters don’t affect exposure and bring a subtle elevation to your photography. Please note the shape of your camera’s aperture affects the shape of the stars. The starburst effect is stronger with a polygonal aperture and weaker with a round aperture.

Find your filter size
Inquisitively search lens for diameter symbol. Ø often marks the spot. The diameter you seek may be accompanied by a number – Ø58 or Ø58mm. Look to the side and the front – this precious number is your filter size. Be warned: your lens focal length (e.g. 18-55mm) is not your filter size.

Place flat and screw clockwise
Gently behold lens in one hand and place flat on lens. Slowly screw clockwise until just firm. Do not over-tighten – that which goes on must one day come off.
